About the Barcode Generator
Barcodes still run most physical retail and warehouse infrastructure, but different symbologies exist because they were built for different constraints: EAN-13/UPC-A are the fixed-length numeric codes printed on retail packaging worldwide, Code 128 packs more data (including letters) into a smaller space for shipping labels, Code 39 is common in internal inventory and asset tracking because it's easy to print without a checksum, and ITF is optimized for cardboard/corrugated printing where fine detail doesn't survive.
Picking the wrong symbology for the destination scanner is a common and frustrating failure mode — a retail POS scanner expecting EAN-13 won't read a Code 39 label. This generator covers the common formats used across retail, logistics, and publishing (ISBN uses EAN-13), and exports to PNG or JPG for print-ready labels or SVG for vector artwork that scales without quality loss.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which barcode format should I use?
Code 128 works for almost everything — it encodes letters, digits, and symbols with high density. Use EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products, ITF-14 for shipping cartons, and Codabar for libraries or healthcare.
Are barcodes generated on my device?
Yes. All barcode rendering happens entirely in your browser using JsBarcode. No data is sent to any server.
How do I use batch generation?
Prepare a CSV file with two columns — the first is a label/name and the second is the barcode value. Upload it, click Generate Batch, and download a ZIP containing one SVG per row.
What resolution should I use for print?
Download as SVG for infinite-resolution print quality. If you need a raster image, PNG is exported at 3× the preview size for crisp printing.
