Flip Image

Flipping is a mirror reflection across an axis, not a rotation — a horizontal flip swaps left and right (common for correcting a selfie-camera mirror effect, since front cameras typically capture a mirrored preview that doesn't match how the photo actually saves), while a vertical flip swaps top and bottom, useful for creating reflection effects or correcting an inverted scan.

This distinction trips people up because a 180-degree rotation and a flip can look superficially similar on a symmetric image but produce very different results on anything with text or an asymmetric subject — rotating turns the image upside down while preserving left/right orientation, flipping mirrors it while preserving up/down.
